All offer Foot Health Courses in two parts, a theory section and practical section. The theory part consists of distance learning modules, done at home without the need to attend college and often with a tutor assigned.
With the practical aspect you will need to travel to their facility for one or two weeks. These Foot Health courses give the student the confidence to perform basic foot care like removal of corns and calluses and the treatment of a variety of foot and nail conditions like fungal and wart infections.
The cost of these courses may seem slightly high from the outset, around £2,000 depending on the number of weeks of practical training. However, once you are trained your income potential can be staggering.
Once you complete one of these Foot Health Courses, you will be qualified and registered to practice with that organisation and generally they will provide your insurance cover. Remember though, as a FHP you will not be able to call yourself a Chiropodist or Podiatrist as these are protected titles under law.

With a Podiatry assistant you need to complete around 500 hours of supervised practice (NHS or Private) with both oral and practical assessments.
Those looking for an easier way into foot care should consider Foot Health Courses for a nail or pedicure qualification. They of ten form part of a beauty therapist course but can be done individually at some colleges.
