Achilles tendinitis is inflammation, irritation and swelling of the Achilles tendon (the tendon that connects the calf muscles to the heel). Achilles tendinitis is also called tendonitis of the heel. Achilles Tendonitis Treatment

Treatment of a ruptured Achilles tendon includes surgery or a cast, splint, brace, walking boot, or any other device that will keep your leg from moving (immobilization). This gives time to cure the Achilles tendon, usually 6-12 weeks. Although the treatment of tendinopathy or rupture takes time, healing is usually successful.
