Nail fungus, also known as "onychomycosis is a condition that results from fungus, mold or bacteria infecting the nail bed between your fingers or toes, nails and skin underneath. The method of infection is very similar to athlete's foot – It can begin with a single exposure to one of the many micro-organisms that can live in your bed of nails (Found in locker rooms, pools, showers, footwear – places warm and moist) coupled with a persistent warm, moist environment around the nails infected.

The fungus or dermatophyte lives under the protective layer of the nail where it feeds on keratin.

Oregano is (regarded as) a fungicide and is used in many formulas nail fungus. We do not recommend or put oregano essential oil on your skin because it is a skin irritant. However, it should be mentioned, because people have (apparently) have successfully used to get rid of nail fungus.
